My Work
Historical
Historical Costuming has helped me refine skills and techniques to create specific silhouettes, and builds a platform of historical context that helps me identify fashion details of eras I want to make.

About Me

My mother taught me to sew as a kid, and the first thing that I made out of the gate was an outfit to wear to my Renaissance Festival that summer.
In undergrad, I picked it up again, sewing published patterns and quick outfits crammed into my dorm room as a way to de-stress from my major. Around the same time I started attending conventions, and the two creative outputs finally combined.
Not long after that I transitioned into historical costuming and cosplay took the back seat for several years, as I dove into the complex history of fashion and the changes in costume through the eras. Around this point I also began getting serious about wig styling, something I had toyed with previously.
I’m happy to say that I’m back to working on both again and working to maintain that balance. I like to think that a historical approach can help base a cosplay costume off a form that’s familiar, and cosplay allows for a more creative approach to costume construction.
